How to choose a small business marketing consultant

stick_figure_search_clues_400_clrThere is a reason why a good small business marketing consultant is hard to come by. Let me tell you the problems associated with finding the right fit and what you can do about it…

The problems Finding a good mentor

  1. They need to understand where you are and where the potential lies in your business. Most small business consultants have rarely experienced the issues you and I go through on a daily basis. They often live in a world of fantasy, coming up with ideas that do not work in the real world.
  2. Price. The best are charging a premium for their time. That is because they have a demand for their services. The truth is, these are the ones you really need to connect with, if only there was an affordable way of doing so.
  3. Accessibility. You need constant contact with your mentor. A one off fling will not help you achieve long term success. You need to be able to ask your biggest questions to them so that you can avoid the mistakes so many small business owners make.

So what can you do to find a good small business consultant/mentor who can help you get through the issues that prevent you from attaining your goals?

Well this is a question I have been asking for years myself.

I got so frustrated, I decided to do something about it.

It just seems so unfair that good honest small business owners have a hard time getting the real advice that would allow them to grow their businesses.

That is how SuccessBug was born.

We have brought together marketing legends and highly successful small business owners to help regular folk to achieve more with their business.

I agree there are many consultants out there that aren’t worth their cost. Yet one thing you really need to look for is someone who can really define what your issues are. Being a small business consultant many of my clients thought they needed a marketing plan or a great promotion when what was really wrong was systemic. So you need someone who is well rounded enough to review all aspects of the business to determine where your needs really are.
